- WordPress.org vs. WordPress.com—which should you use?
- Using WordPress for blogging, as a standalone site, or both
- Setting up a multi-page WordPress site
- How to install a free or low-cost professionally designed theme
- Using plugins and widgets to easily add extra features to your site
- Changing images and text, adding and deleting pages
- How WordPress and a few tips about SEO can make your site perform better in Google searches
- Enough about Cascading Style Sheets to be dangerous (and allow you to modify pre-existing templates)
- Elements of an effective and useful site
- Using WordPress help and forums to get your questions answered
You’ll bring your own WiFi enabled laptop but we can also supply you with a computer. This training applies equally to both Mac and PC users.
Who should take this class?
This workshop is for people—whether you’re an accomplished designer or not—who would like to get their own (or a client’s) website up and running easily—and then keep it updated with equal ease. Please note that this is an entry level workshop and is not intended for those who intend to do complex, enterprise level sites.
WordPress In A Day – Level 2
This class will be based around Premium WordPress Themes and will feature the StudioPress Genesis Framework. The class content caters to WordPress ‘self hosted’ accounts (WordPress.org) and not WordPress.com blogs. Sign up for class
The Genesis Framework has been chosen for this course as it includes a multitude of enhanced features that make the process of developing fully customized and ‘future proof’ Professional Websites and Blogs a reality. Themes are a hugely important component in the WordPress environment as they not only interpret and present the power of WordPress but also include add-on features that truly enhance that presence.
The level 2 class also includes:
- Advanced Plugins
- Backing Up And Restoring Sites

- Web Graphics (Photoshop Elements)
- Web Video (YouTube/Vimeo) (Adobe Premier Elements)
Who should take this class?
The level 2 workshop is for people who have either already taken the level 1 class or have a good working knowledge of WordPress. It takes you to the next level of web development and Internet Marketing
Instructor Information – Christine Ely
Christine is a well known WordPress, Social Media and Customer Relationship Management consultant living in Mesa AZ. She regularly holds WordPress, SEO and CRM workshops as well as various speaking events. Christine has been involved with software, the Internet and Web Publishing for over 20 years but now develops almost exclusively in WordPress and other ‘Open Source’ technologies.
Christine is an enthusiastic proponent of ‘Open Source’ software and especially WordPress.
